Matth.: 43-48
Love Your Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Again we read about the order of our Lord to “be perfect”. It is not easy for us to be perfect – and – what means “perfect” ?
Perfect in the eyes of the Lord, fulfilling His commandments, spreading His love over the world, giving to the poor, praying to our Jesus Christ. To love the enemies is a very severe thing – how easy it is to love our nice and dear family and fends, but when we are going to love our enemies it is an order to be fulfilled arduously. The Lord wants us to be perfect, perfect as He is. But is there any possibility for a human being to be perfect? – Yes !! When god helps us, then we can be. Let us pray !! The sincere pray is one of the things to help us become perfect. It is a continuous efford during our whole life, we must not look besides but straight on, having the destination of eternal happyness in our mind and hearts.
Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.
6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.
