MERCY

Message : 26th of january 2016 — Mercy  in the New Testament

We can find the word  “mercy” 134 times in the text of New Testament.

Matth.: 10:8   Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give    as freely as you have received!

In the greek language the word “mercy” is used as adverb  “dorean”, it means  free, uncalled for.

“charis”  also means free, with joy, delight, delectation, good will, favour, protection.

Luke 1:30     “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God!

John 1:14    So the Word became human[a] and made his home among us. He was full of    unfailing love and faithfulness.[b] And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Acts   4 : 33-35  –   The apostles testified powerfully to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all. 34 There were no needy people among them, because those who owned land or houses would sell them 35 and bring the money to the apostles to give to those in need.

Acts 6:8  –  Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people.

Acts  14:3 –  But the apostles stayed there a long time, preaching boldly about the grace of the Lord. And the Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do miraculous signs and wonders.

Acts 15:11  –  We believe that we are all saved the same way, by the undeserved grace of the Lord.  Everyone listened quietly as Barnabas and Paul told about the miraculous signs and wonders God had done through them among the Gentiles.

Philippians  4:23 –  May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

Galatians  2:21  – I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.

Ephesians  1:3-8 – All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. 4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 6 So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. 7 He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. 8 He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

Ephesians  2:8-9 – God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Hebrews 4:16  –  So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

2 Timothy  1:7-12  –  For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

8 So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. 9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. 10 And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. 11 And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News.

12 That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him[a] until the day of his return.

James 4:6 –  And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.”

1 Peter 4:10  God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

1 Peter  5:5 – In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Judas 1:4 –  Some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Revelation  21:6  –  And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life.

Revelation 22:21 – May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people.
