When we listen to the Psalm 95, we get an invitation to worship the Lord, so sing unto him. He reminds us not to harden our hearts, not to err in our heart´s choices – but he leaves the choices of life to the individual.
When we read the Parable of the Sower ( Matthew 13: 1-9), we may think, that every single farmer would not throw the seeds onto a stony field. But after thinking about this parable, we will understand, what Jesus means with it.
Matthew 13: 1That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. 2 Great crowds assembled around Him, so that He went into a boat and sat there. And the whole assembly stood on the shore. 3 Then He told them many things in parables, saying, “Listen! A sower went out to sow. 4 While he sowed, some seeds fell beside the path, and the birds came and devoured them. 5 But other seeds fell on rocky ground where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up because they did not have deep soil. 6 But when the sun rose, they were scorched. And because they did not take root, they withered away. 7 Some seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. 8 But other seeds fell into good ground and produced grain: a hundred, sixty, or thirty times as much. 9 Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”
THE SOWER IS JESUS ! The ground, where the seeds are sowed, is our heart. When our heart is hardened, the seeds will not be able to grow and give fruits. It is on us, to prepare our hearts to receive the seeds – the words of God – and let them grow. What about my own heart today?? Will it be able to “listen” – or will the noise of the daily work, the suffering from illness and other adversities make me deaf to His words? He let me choose the way I live, but He also sends the Holy Spirit to illuminate my heart – and so he does to You – and You – and You. He gives us the chance, He offers the precios seeds, he wants to speak to everyone of us. The question is only whether we are ready to listenor not. Are we deaf ? Are our hearts hardened ? Don´t You dare !! – But how much good things can grow, when the words of our Lord are sown into an open heart !
