EASTER    –     PESACH

The word EASTER comes from the Hebraic word Pesach, that means passage. For us christians it means the passage of Jesus from death to life.

What does it mean to You ??

 Isaias 53:   5-10

He was wounded and crushed
    because of our sins;
by taking our punishment,
    he made us completely well.
All of us were like sheep
    that had wandered off.
We had each gone our own way,
but the Lord gave him
    the punishment we deserved.

He was painfully abused,
    but he did not complain.
He was silent like a lamb
    being led to the butcher,
as quiet as a sheep
    having its wool cut off.

He was condemned to death
    without a fair trial.
Who could have imagined
    what would happen to him?
His life was taken away
because of the sinful things
    my people[a] had done.
He wasn’t dishonest or violent,
but he was buried in a tomb
    of cruel and rich people.

10 The Lord decided his servant
    would suffer as a sacrifice
to take away the sin
    and guilt of others.
Now the servant will live
    to see his own descendants.
He did everything
    the Lord had planned.

Even though Jesus had not been rejected, he would still have to die on the cross
Do you know why?
Because it was the only way to forgive my sins, the sins of you, your friends, your parents, your neighbors, your children, in short, all men.
Have you ever felt rejected by the one you love?
The people around you looking at you with contempt when you’re doing your best for them?

Hebrews 2:14 Therefore, since the children have flesh and blood, he himself also shared the same things, so that by his death he might destroy the one who has the power of death (that is, the Devil) 15 and might free those who were slaves all their lives because they were terrified by dead.
                                    Fear of death:

For most of the humans the biggest fear is the fear of death.

But there are good news:  Jesus conquered death !!
And he promised,  to resurrect everyone who believes in him.
John 6: 37-40, 44-45
37 Everything the Father gives me will come to me, and I’ll never turn away the one who comes to me. 38 I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of the one who sent me. 39 And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything that he has given me, but should raise it to life on the last day. 40 This is my Father’s will: That everyone who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him to life on the last day.” 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him to life on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And all of them will be taught by God.’ Everyone who has listened to the Father and has learned anything comes to me.
If Christo is not resurrected, what are the consequences? In verses 1 Corintians15.14-1914 and if the Messiah has not been raised, then our message means nothing and your, faith means nothing. 15 In addition, we are found to be false witnesses about God because we testified on God’s behalf that he raised the Messiah]—whom he did not raise if in fact it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then the Messiah has not been raised, 17 and if the Messiah[ has not been raised, your faith is worthless and you are still imprisoned by your sins. 18 Yes, even those who have died believing in the Messiah are lost. 19 If we have set our hopes on the Messiah in this life only, we deserve more pity than any other people.
As Paulus had show yet, that the ressurection is essential for our faith.
He gives here 6 disastrous consequences that would result if Christus would not have risen from the dead. The preaching of the gospel would have been meaningless. As Paul said earlier, the heart of the gospel is Christ’s death and resurrection on our behalf. Because first I will give you what I also received: that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, that he was buried; that he was resurrected on the third day, according to the Scriptures.
Without resurrection, Jesus could not have conquered death, and death would forever be man’s conqueror. Without resurrection, the good news would be bad news and there would be no nothing worth preaching.
Without ressurection the evangelho would be  a desperate, empty, meaningless message. If the Lord didn’t overpower  sins and death, making a way for men to continue in victory, there is no gospel to proclaim.
Therefore let us thank our good Jesus Christ for all he had done for us and all humans that believe in him and praise his glory for ever.
