Ephesians 6: 10-17
10 Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong. 11 Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil’s tricks. 12 We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. 13 So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm.
14 Be ready! Let the truth be like a belt around your waist, and let God’s justice protect you like armor. 15 Your desire to tell the good news about peace should be like shoes on your feet. 16 Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Let God’s saving power be like a helmet, and for a sword use God’s message that comes from the Spirit.
Our Lord gives us different armours to fight against the devil. When we think of fighting against the bad, we usually think about fighting agains humans, persons around us – indeed, sometimes it is necessary to fight against real, visivel individuals – but they are not thought of in this case. We are speaking about the forces that want us to stand up against our Lord. The strenghts that are against our Lord are inside of us : faithlessness, lack of confidence, maliciousness against our sisters and brothers, jealousy and others …all that leades us on ways that are not the straight way in direction to God, that way He had chosen for everyone of us before born. Bat we can be happy, for He had already given us the armours to fight against the evil: the biggest of all is LOVE, than also His word, that we can read in the Bibel, and our devotedly prayers. With the help of these armours we are empowered to fight against the bad. Sometimes we have real enemies in front of us, such ones that we can see physically, we could ward off with weapons made of solid materials, weapons that kill the body. Even when we cannot kill the soul of such persons, we know that we should not use these weapons because we are killing our own immortal soul, because God had taught us not to do anything against our sister or brother. Therefore: “Let us take the most efficient weapons of Christians, the spiritual ones that help us to fight against everyone who wants to kill our immortal soul !!”
