What does it mean to be “mother” ? We think of the family, of our own family, of the mother of Jesus.
Mother – – – children – –
Psalm 133: How Good and Pleasing
May the people of God live together
as if they were all brothers!
2 It’s like perfumed olive oil
on the head of Aaron,
which descends through their beards
and the collar of his priestly garment.
3 It is as the dew of Mount Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion.
For it is in Zion that the Lord God
gives his blessing,
life forever.
Mary is a person of God’s grace, born in Galilee, a servant of the Lord, obedient, confident, patient. Of all the women, she, Mary, Myriam, was chosen to be the mother of Jesus Christ. He knew the interior of Mary, and so chose her.
Mary was born in Galilee, a simple and obedient young woman.
Already 600 years before, in the Old Testament, it was announced, that a virgin would be the mother of God.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give them a sign: the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
God sent the angel Gabriel: Luke 1: 31-32
The Birth of Jesus is Predestined
26 In the sixth month God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, the city of Galilee, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a certain man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 Then the angel came and said to her, “Rejoice, you gracious one! The Lord is with you! ”
Mary was troubled by these words, wondering what this salutation might mean. 30 But the angel said to him,
“Do not be afraid, Mary;
You have been blessed by God!
31 You will become pregnant
and shall bring forth a son,
and will name him Jesus.
32 He will be great
and will be called
Son of the Most High.
The Lord God will give you
the throne of his father David,
At that time the situation of Mary was extremely absurd: a 14-year-old girl, single, pregnant! She knew it would be a difficult situation, but she put herself at God’s disposal, the choice was made by obedience.
Luke 1: 38 And Mary said, I am the handmaid of the Lord; may it happen to me according to your word. ” Then the angel left her.
Mary was grateful, praised the Lord. Luke 1: 46-47
The Song of Mary
46 And Mary said,
“My soul magnifies
to the Lord
47 And my spirit rejoices.
in God,
my savior,
Mary has gone through all the pain and joys a mother can go through. She was always beside him, whatever the problem. … So, like every mother stands beside the children, even if they walk the wrong way. A mother kneels bent and prays for her children. “Mother is on her knees on her knees.” Mother always of love, attentiveness, never gives up, she finds strength to work against the adversities of the world. God chooses, who can be mother, the mothers are in the plan of God. God created the family – he is a father. He gives rap mäe all joys and all sorrows – like the beautiful rose flower – it shines, but it has the pimples.
Mary has faced the diversities of the world to be the mother of the redeemer. She played the role of mother, wife, even knowing that her son was temporary, she followed every step. He obeyed his father. Mary also obeyed, obeyed to do the will of Jesus. She always looks for Jesus’ followers to obey him.
John 2: 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you to do.”
3 Is not this the carpenter, son of Mary and brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon? Are not your sisters here with us? “And they were scandalized by him.
Maria was always present, never left him, saw her son die, crying, felt agony, moments of pain. Everyone despised Jesus on the cross, only Mary was together. Jesus resurrected and sent the disciples to stay in Jerusalem.
Mary was always persevering, filled with Holy Spirit, was a disciple of Jesus among the Apostles. She was present, seeking the face of Jesus.
Role of Maria = mother.
Jesus is the one who intercedes for God, Mary is mother and servant of God, she is submissive, does not question, has fidelity, being present even in situations where we do not expect, in despair.
The disposition for the work of the Lord must always prevail in us. We must have time for the Lord, unconditional love, humility – Mary has never demanded anything for herself.
God has plans for all people, he chooses so that the person can be chosen.
Mary was chosen to bring forth the miracle – son of God.
Who among us is willing to do God’s will? Even risking – BE WELCOME !! Seek the will of the Lord !!
